I am not a runner. When running the mile in junior high, I was always one of the last stragglers, although I tried very hard. When I took aerobic classes in high school and beyond, I would often find myself short of breath and lagging behind. Now, while traing for a half marathon, I marvel at the people who run and keep running. I can (barely) jog for a minute, then I must resort to walking. I cannot for the life of me continuously run.
My fibromyalgia is worst Jan-March, in the depths of winter. I was beginning to get pains every night to the point where I would actually say something about it to Sky. (I am a suffer in silence kind of person - I have be really suffering to mention discomfort at all). Because I work full-time, I could only run in the evenings, which means I was running along with my leg pains. It got to the point where running was excruciating till I just couldn't do it anymore.
I had to stop. Luckily, I had an appointment with my doctor coming up. I told her my troubles and asked if I should keep running. She advised me that I should keep running and gave me medicine to deal with the pain. (Regular Ibuprofen was barely putting a dent in the pain). So, properly medicated, I have just barely started running again. Pain free!
Like I said, I am not a runner. Even though I train, I fully anticipate to walk a great deal of the half marathon. I run as much as I feel I can, which really isn't a whole lot. But I'll still do it.
